Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 2026 ยท Effective date: July 2026

1. Who we are

Camilo Hernandez ("we", "us", "our") operates the Attic Greek mobile application (the "App") available on iOS. Our contact email is support@atticgreek.com and our website is atticgreek.com.

This Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect, how we use it, where it is stored, and what rights you have under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and other applicable data protection laws.

2. Data we collect

We collect only the data necessary to provide and improve the App:

  • Email address โ€” collected only if you choose to create an account, or if you contact support. An account is optional: the free lessons can be used without one.
  • Anonymous account identifier โ€” when you first open the App a random identifier is created so your progress can be saved without asking you for any personal details. It is not derived from your name, email, device or any other identifying information. If you later create an account, that same identifier becomes your account.
  • Learning progress โ€” lessons completed, quiz scores, vocabulary mastery status.
  • Streak data โ€” daily usage streaks tracked to support learning consistency.
  • Experience points (XP) โ€” accumulated as you complete lessons and quizzes.
  • Quiz scores โ€” individual and aggregate quiz performance data.

We do not collect sensitive personal data such as health information, financial details, or precise geolocation. We do not collect data from children under 13.

3. How we use your data

We use the data we collect for the following purposes:

  • To provide and maintain your account and personalised learning experience.
  • To track and display your progress, streaks and XP within the App.
  • To send account-related notifications (e.g. password resets, subscription status). We do not send marketing emails without your explicit consent.
  • To respond to support requests sent to support@atticgreek.com.
  • To improve the App based on aggregate, anonymised usage patterns.

Our legal basis for processing personal data is (a) performance of a contract when you use the App under our Terms of Service, and (b) legitimate interests in improving our service through anonymised analytics.

4. Where your data is stored

Your data is stored in the European Union. We use Supabase as our database infrastructure, hosted in the eu-north-1 region (Stockholm, Sweden). Supabase is compliant with GDPR and processes data under a Data Processing Agreement. No data is transferred outside the European Economic Area except where covered by an appropriate legal mechanism such as Standard Contractual Clauses.

5. Data retention

Progress stored against an anonymous identifier is retained until you delete the App or ask us to remove it. We retain personal data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account (which you can do directly within the App), all personal data associated with your account is permanently deleted from our systems within 30 days.

6. Third parties

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for commercial purposes. The only third parties with access to your data are:

  • Supabase โ€” database infrastructure (EU, Stockholm).
  • Apple App Store โ€” for subscription billing and app distribution. We do not receive your payment details; billing is handled entirely by Apple under its own privacy policy.

7. Your rights under GDPR

If you are located in the European Economic Area, you have the following rights:

  • Access โ€” request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Rectification โ€” ask us to correct inaccurate data.
  • Erasure โ€” request deletion of your personal data. You may also delete your account directly within the App.
  • Restriction โ€” ask us to restrict processing of your data in certain circumstances.
  • Portability โ€” receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
  • Objection โ€” object to processing based on legitimate interests.

To exercise any of these rights, email us at support@atticgreek.com. We will respond within 30 days. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your national data protection authority.

8. Cookies and tracking

The Attic Greek mobile app does not use cookies. If you access our website atticgreek.com, minimal analytics may be used to measure visitor counts; no cross-site tracking or advertising cookies are deployed.

9. Security

We implement appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data, including encrypted data transmission (TLS) and access controls limiting who can view personal data. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security but commit to promptly notifying affected users in the event of a data breach as required by GDPR.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you via the App or by email. The "last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
